In March of 2023 the wecare2help team went to Medshare to help volunteer activities related to Medical Equipment sorting event. MedShare is a 501c(3) humanitarian aid organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people,
communities and our planet. It does this by sourcing and directly delivering surplus medical supplies and equipment to communities in need around the world.
MedShare helps increase health system capacity and drives sustainability by providing biomedical equipment training and service to healthcare organizations and medical professionals serving populations in need.
MedShare’s deliveries of vital medical supplies and equipment have decreased our nation’s carbon footprint. They have brought health, healing and better lives to 100 countries and countless patients.
At Medshare, we were tasked with organizing gloves, specifically exam and surgical gloves. While sorting these gloves we put exam gloves in one box and surgical gloves in a different box. After making the boxes and filling them with
gloves we would use a sharpie and write how many gloves were in the box. We would also write the type of gloves and the expiration date. And after we created one box we created another one. We repeated this until it was time to leave.
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. Not just for me but for everyone else who was there. These gloves that the wecare2help team sorted would eventually be delivered to an underprivileged country and would have made a huge difference
for surgery and examinations.
